A Team That Supports You

Personal, Compassionate Veterinary Care in Alpharetta, GA

Lotus Animal Hospital is a family‑owned practice whose approach is inspired by Dr. Stephens’s family and the bond she shared with her soul dog (or, as some say, heart dog), Stitch.

The name "Lotus" was chosen because the lotus flower is her son’s birth flower and symbolizes blossoming despite adversity. Stitch’s companionship gave Dr. Stephens the strength to overcome many obstacles.

The care and attention provided by the team at Lotus Animal Hospital is in honor of Stitch. We take the time to get to know your family and understand the unique bond you share with your pet. Our goal is to build long-lasting, trusting relationships with you so we can help your pet live a happy, healthy life.

Get To Know Dr. Stephens

Dr. Alissa Stephens grew up in East Brunswick, New Jersey. After graduating from Rutgers University, she moved to Atlanta to complete an externship at Zoo Atlanta while also working as a veterinary assistant at a well-established veterinary practice in Buckhead. Dr. Stephens received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from The University of Georgia. Since graduation, she has practiced at a high-quality, customer-service-focused, multi-location practice group, where she served as medical director and Chief Operating Officer.

In her free time, Dr. Stephens enjoys spending time with her family. She and her husband have one son and a whole pack of animals—five dogs: Madison, Uni, Yoshi, Yuzu, and Frankie; and four cats: Binx, Hiccup, Scrump, and Mochi. As self-proclaimed foodies, Dr. Stephens and her husband love traveling and trying delicious food.

Meet The Team

Jazmyne

Veterinary Assistant

A Georgia native, Jazmyne—affectionately known as JB around the hospital—has loved animals for as long as she can remember, often trying to bring home every stray she found. She began her veterinary career as a kennel technician while attending Georgia State University, where she later graduated.

With over 8 years of experience in the veterinary field, JB has worked in general practice, emergency medicine, and oncology. She and Dr. Stephens previously worked together for over 4 years and are thrilled to be reunited at Lotus Animal Hospital.

Outside of work, JB enjoys visiting art museums, baking, learning Japanese, reading, and doting on schnauzers. She shares her home with six beloved pets—three cats (Jasper, Salem, and Okoye) and three dogs (Feta, Pepper Jack, and Apple Pie).

Megan

Veterinary Assistant

Though originally from Louisiana, Megan has called Georgia home for most of her life. Even though she wasn’t allowed to have pets growing up, her love for animals was undeniable—she always knew she belonged in veterinary medicine. Megan began her career as a kennel attendant and went on to graduate from Gwinnett Technical College as a Veterinary Assistant in 2009.

With over 14 years of experience in general practice, Megan has developed a special interest in radiology and surgery. She has worked alongside Dr. Stephens for the past three years and is thrilled to continue their journey together at Lotus Animal Hospital.

Outside of work, Megan enjoys spending time with her significant other, their daughter, and their two cats, Toulouse and Basile. She’s an avid pool player and APA member, loves reading and cooking, and can often be heard singing around the clinic to her favorite tunes.
